QOV Sew Day, July 2015

Quilts of Valor Sew Day a Success!

On July 18, 2015 forty-two quilters from across the state met in Baton Rouge to stitch up a few patriotic quilts for Louisiana veterans and "pass a good time". By the end of the day the five quilt tops below were created. Once completed, all quilts will be donated to local veterans and military service members.

Pre-cut kits for sewing the assorted quilt blocks in Stars and Stripes were provided for the day's activities, along with lunch and door prizes, by River City Quilt Guild, The Wasted Women's Bee and The Giving Quilt, Inc., co-sponsors of the event.

Through a 2015 National Quilting Association grant, four QOV quilts were completed earlier this year and donated to special guest Roxanne Brown, Louisiana Quilts of Valor state coordinator, to award to Louisiana veterans. One of these quilts was awarded to an Air Force veteran volunteering at the Sew Day.
